In the spirit of Thanksgiving, many of us are thankful for the memories we'll forever have of a true professional named Hal Arnold. For those who had the privilege to work with Hal or know him on any level, you might agree that he was cut from a different cloth. He was in our humble opinion a model citizen for all that is good about the profession of public adjusting. Hal was knowledgeable, kind, humorous, skilled, and conducted his business like a true gentleman.

Hal-Arnold-and-Scott-DavidsonA former colleague once told me that in this business of representing policyholders, "Every day when I wake up I feel like I am going to get into a fight...although I just don't know who it will be with." Hal Arnold, for three decades, fought the good fight of advocating for policyholders. He did this with class, grace, and tremendous experience. He worked tirelessly to help his clients and did so with a caring and thoughtful approach. Hal was a rare breed because he always went above and beyond, consistently doing the little things the right way. Regardless of the size of the claim or the challenges they faced, Hal provided his clients the effort and respect that all policyholders deserve.

Hal also shared the following sage advice. He believed there are three types of adjusters that handle claims:

  • There is the adjuster that makes things happen;
  • There is the adjuster that waits for things to happen; and
  • There are the adjusters that often wonder what just happened!

Our friend and colleague, Mr. Hal Arnold, lost his life due to a tragic accidental fall this past weekend. Words cannot describe our sadness for this loss. Our hearts go out to his lovely wife, his children, grandchildren...and policyholders everywhere that he never had the chance to help.

Hal, you will forever be missed.
